Nails by Asami: April 2010
I haven’t been wearing the matte look much because the OPI Suede and Zoya Matte Velvet polishes I own chip on me on the second day. Mattes aren’t known for having great staying power, which is why I am so absolutely blown away by “#matteismurder” by Man Glaze.
Man Glaze is a refreshingly snarky indie label nail polish brand. They have an interestingly surly marketing approach that’s male-friendly, and all of their polishes are matte finish. They have unique bottle art, awesome customer service and the biggest reason I love them is because “#matteismuder” is flat-out the greatest matte nail polish I’ve ever used.
Pictured is two coats of “#matteismuder.”
Unlike OPI’s Suede line and Zoya’s Matte Velvets I can actually apply “#matteismurder” without the polish drying on the brush before I’m done coating my nail entirely. “#matteismurder” is slightly thinner than other matte blacks I’ve tried, which makes a world of difference when applying the polish.
Doesn’t it look just like charcoal on? This polish is drop dead sexy; I absolutely love it. I put this on and went to Starbucks right after, (it dries very quickly,) and got two compliments on it right away! That made my day.
I was expecting this to chip on the second day like other matte nail polishes I’m familiar with, but it didn’t. So on day two I decided to try stamping clear topcoat over to see if the combination of shiny and matte would look interesting together. Konad stamping plate M78 was used.
Day three came and went, as did day four, day five, and day six! Did I mention this is a matte nail polish? I was utterly flabbergasted. My Konad stamping had worn off a bit by this point, but my nails were actually growing out the polish before “#matteismurder” started chipping.
Here is another picture taken when the Konad stamping was fresh.
If you are into the matte nail polish look or know any rocker guys who’d look good in nail polish, I cannot recommend “#matteismurder” by Man Glaze enough. It is so much more awesome than just wearing regular black nail polish.
I own Zoya “Dovima” and I can honestly tell you that I see no point in using it anymore now that I have such a vastly superior black matte. Man Glaze, thank you tremendously for sending me this bottle of “#matteismurder.” I will most certainly be buying a replacement after this one is finished.
The current price is $6.66 and it’s available on the Man Glaze website.
What do you think of the charcoal nails look? Do you like the clear Konad stamping effect?
